Book Club - Fall 2020

Books | Bonding | Bravery

My summer book club is continuing into the fall. Please join me for the books that most appeal to you, or make book club your regular Wednesday evening thing! Each month we’ll focus on one book (self-help or spirituality genre) for three weeks. This process will invite you to take a deeper look at your heart, your mind, and your relationships. The best part is that you’ll be doing this while in connection with others!

Pricing, dates, and books are below. The book club meets on Wednesday evenings from 5:30-7pm, and for now we meet via Zoom.

Pricing:
$75 for 1 Month
$135 for 2 Months
$180 for 3 Months

Know My Name: A Memoir By: Chanel Miller
Content Warning - This book discusses sexual assault, PTSD, and rape culture.
In this memoir of trauma and transcendence, Chanel Miller illuminates a culture biased to protect perpetrators, indicting a criminal justice system designed to fail the most vulnerable, and, ultimately, shining with the courage required to move through suffering and live a full and beautiful life. Know My Name will forever transform the way we think about sexual assault, challenging our beliefs about what is acceptable and speaking truth to the tumultuous reality of healing. Entwining pain, resilience, and humor, this memoir will stand as a modern classic.

Talking to Strangers: What We Should Know About the People We Don’t Know By: Malcolm Gladwell
Something is very wrong, Gladwell argues, with the tools and strategies we use to make sense of people we don't know. And because we don't know how to talk to strangers, we are inviting conflict and misunderstanding in ways that have a profound effect on our lives and our world.

The Book of Forgiving By: Desmond Tutu and Mpho Tutu
Forgiveness is hard work. Sometimes it even feels like an impossible task. After much reflection on the process of forgiveness, Tutu has seen that there are four important steps to healing. But it is only through walking this fourfold path that Tutu says we can free ourselves of the endless and unyielding cycle of pain and retribution. “The Book of Forgiving” is both a touchstone and a tool, offering Tutu's wise advice and showing the way to experience forgiveness. Ultimately, forgiving is the only means we have to heal ourselves and our aching world.
